Tai Chi for Long Life is a unique health and fitness program designed to help relieve chronic pain and sickness, reverse many symptoms associated with normal aging, significantly reduce the harmful effects of stress, instill a deep sense of calm and relaxation, increase vitality and improve one’s overall quality of health. Tai Chi has been shown through scientific studies to, among other things, improve balance, prevent falls, alleviate arthritis, clear the mind, release stress and manage blood sugar levels.

Instructor Bio
Ken has been studying Tai Chi & Qigong for almost 25 years. He has studied Yang, Pai Young & Wu Chun styles, along with Five Form Fist Kung Fu & Philippine Kali, under Laoshi David Everett, founder of the White Lotus Martial Arts Association. Ken became a Sifu (full instructor) of Taijiquan in October 2003 & still trains with Master Everett. Ken also trains with 12th generation lineage holder Wang Haijun in Chen Laojia Taijiquan, the oldest style of Tai Chi. Ken is certified in the Taiji for Long Life Program by Dr. Robert Bacher, the Taiji, Moving with Better Balance Program by Dr. Fuzhong Li, several of Dr. Paul Lam's Tai Chi for Health programs & Tai Chi for Arthritis by the American Arthritis Foundation. He teaches throughout the state, has presented on using Tai Chi for stroke recovery at Hartford Hospital & was a principle researcher in a Tai Chi study for UCONN's Department of Kinesiology.

Refund and Cancellation Policies:
If you are unable to attend a program and need to cancel your registration, you must do so at least two weeks in advance to receive a full refund. All Parks and Recreation programs require a minimum number of participants in order to run. Please consider this prior to making your cancellation.
Refund requests must be emailed to adionne@portlandct.org or cbrennan@portlandct.org and all requests may not be approved. Refunds are generally not provided once a program has begun, however, in the event of injury or illness, a partial refund request will be considered if accompanied by a doctor's note. In the event that a program is canceled by Parks & Recreation, students will receive a full refund and will be notified by phone or email 3-5 days before the start date. Refunds may be issued via a household credit or by check. Household credits never expire and are applied directly to the participant’s RecDesk Account.
Refund checks will be sent to the address on file in your account, unless otherwise requested. Checks are processed through Town Hall. Please allow 10-15 business days for your checks to arrive in the mail.
