Programs
The Portland Parks and Recreation Youth Poetry Contest is open to children in Grades 5 and 6 who live or attend school in Portland.
There is no fee required to enter this contest.
The top three winners will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on May 27, 2021 at 6:00pm on the Zoom Online Streaming Platform. Each of the three winners will be presented with a certificate and will have the option of preforming their poem during the ceremony.
The poems of the three winners will be compiled with other top poems from the contest and published in a collection by the Parks and Recreation Department. Once the book is made, it will be added to the catalog of the Portland Public Library and put on display.
Poems can be entered into the contest by using Portland Parks and Recreation's RecDesk Registration Software. Please call 860-342-6757 or email adionne@portlandct.org if you need help submitting your poem.
Entries will be accepted from April 1, 2021 to May 17, 2021.
